Again, my utmost apologies for the delay on this one.  Between schoolwork, WoW, and medical problems, it has been a long week.

Hachibei begins this chapter struggling with himself: should he give in to his love of delicious parts, or are his feelings for Tenmaku stronger?   The struggle continues as he journies through what can only be described as a parts buffet.  All the main girls get time in this chapter, and the inclusion of Yukari’s bountiful bosom earns this chapter a very high rating on the Quote scale.  All it needs is a dash of Umeka-Flonne and it would be a work of perfection.

Hayate 80 should be up next, assuming I have time to work on it.  I only have another week and a half of classes, so I hope you all can bear with me.

Dear whoever nabbed the script off my host: thanks, but no thanks.  Vaelis is doing a great job.  Also if I happen to do that again, please let me know instead of taking it upon yourself to grab our translation.  Don’t get me wrong, I am the one who messed up, but sometimes restraint is the better part of valor.

Long time, no post.  Strictly business this time, I’m afraid.  I feel kind of weird doing this, so bear with me.

Here’s the scoop: unnes signed out of the internet about a week ago and hasn’t been seen since.  Our translator has been getting anxious, so here I am.  Normally this wouldn’t hold us back, but Nemuri_no_Mori is away working and can only sporadically do cleaning.  So without editors, we’re sort of stuck.

I considered holding off on making this post to see if unnes was just swamped with work, but in the interest of being proactive I am getting a jump on the situation.  It has been a while since we’ve released something, and I don’t want to delay any longer.

We are in need of an editor.  I know in a previous post unnes mentioned that we had found someone, but that person’s contact information was not shared with us, so we have no way of getting in touch.  If you are the person unnes was talking about, and are reading this, please fire off an e-mail to me or jump in the IRC channel.  Also understand that, while unnes may have recruited you to clean the occassional page, at this point we’ll need you to clean and typeset whole chapters.

And here comes the same prepared remarks: if you or someone you know has experience with editing manga (leveling, typesetting, cleaning, redrawing), or are just really good with Photoshop, and would be willing to give us a hand, send me an e-mail.  We’re dead in the water until an editor is found or unnes returns.

And unnes, if you’re reading this: this isn’t a coup d’état, I just want more Aikora.  Also where are you. 

PART TWO: thanks to everyone who sent in e-mails, keep ‘em coming.  If I don’t respond immediately, it’s probably because I am busy coding things and/or catching up on sleep.  I will endeavor to respond to everyone in a timely manner.

PART THREE: the editor unnes picked out has come forward, and is now hard at work.  The only clog in the system now is me, since I haven’t had a chance to look over the work he’s done, but with any luck we should have something for you today-ish.  Thanks to everyone who sent in e-mails.

Filler is the best when you don’t realize it’s filler — you’re too busy fapping to Maria in a seifuku, or laughing at Hayate and Hinagiku doing their best Yakitate!! Japan impression. And this series has gone through 12 volumes of such filler.

Our plate for the upcoming week includes a Zero no Tsukaima H-doujin, Ai Kora 64, and Rabuyan 12. Hayate 80’s got an annoying redraw, and I suck at redraws. I used to get Nemuri no Mori’s help on particularly hard pages, but he’s traveling constantly for work nowadays, so I’m pretty much stuck on my own — which means slower releases for you. If you’re an experienced editor or just a whiz with Photoshop and would like to help with a difficult redraw here and there, drop us a line. I posted what we’re looking for on the Mangaupdates forum, if you want more info. It seems we’ve got our guy. We’ve received several emails offering help, and it’s quite nice to have options like this. Consequently, we’ll hold on to everyone’s names and if we need help in the future, we’ll contact you.

Saki v01 Prologue 01 - Moe Mahjong

Our Clannad translator has kind of lost interest in the 4koma manga, and frankly, so have I… it really wasn’t that funny, after all. Consequently, it’s been moved off into “Inactive Projects”. To fill that spot of “stuff we do when not doing Hayate or Ai Kora”, we’ve joined forces with our friends at AHK to work on a new project: Saki.

A friend pointed me to this series a few months back, but we had no translator to work on it. Apparently it’s hard to find people who are interested in translating manga about mahjong — except those who already work in it. So it was a natural fit for us to team up with those working on the Akagi manga.

Saki is the story of a high school girl whose family would get angry if she won her family’s mahjong games, and withhold her New Year’s money. But if she lost her family’s games, well… she’d lose her money anyways. As a result, she learned to toe the line between winning and losing, hating the game every step of the way. Yet when an old friend drags her to the school mahjong club against her will, it becomes evident that this odd training in the game has made her quite an interesting opponent.

Let me get this off my chest first: I miss the caramelldansen flash ;_; That said, it’s been a while since we’ve had a release; it’s been busy around these parts. But this chapter should appeal to fans who like the “new” Hachibei, as well as those who loved his old parts-chasing shenanigans.

Also, we’d like to thank David, who surprised us with a generous donation this weekend. It’ll allow us to buy Aikora tankoubons from Amazon JP to scan (if you’ve looked at the webraws, they’re lousy), as well as pursue several other things we’ve been interested in. We’re working on Hayate, so don’t fret — we should have that out early next week.
